“For two decades, YCOWA has tirelessly championed human rights, labor rights, and gender equality. Our journey began with Myanmar migrant workers’ historic legal battle for justice in Thailand. Alongside our pursuit of justice, we’ve empowered individuals and communities through transformative training programs.

Our dedication extends to providing legal aid to Myanmar migrant workers in both Thailand and Myanmar. We have stood with thousands of migrants, representing tens of thousands of their co-workers in pursuing workplace grievances.

In 2010, we expanded our mission to Burma, launching an Access to Justice project in industrial zones in Yangon such as Hlaing Thar Yar, Insein and Shwe Pyi Thar Townships. YCOWA stands as a steadfast ally to workers who courageously seek resolution through the Shwepyithar Township Conciliation Body and Yangon Region Dispute Settlement Arbitration Body. We provide essential training and legal support, fostering the growth of over 20 new trade unions in the last decade, a testament to our unwavering commitment to workers’ rights.

Our efforts span a wide spectrum, delivering immediate wage and working condition improvements while nurturing self-reliance and capacity building for long-term human development goals. At Yaung Chi Oo Workers Association, we unite with workers to advocate for Labour Rights, Democracy, and Justice. Through collective efforts, we empower the workforce, safeguard their rights, uphold democratic values, and strive for justice. Together, we foster a fair and just environment for every worker. We have stood with thousands of migrants, representing tens of thousands of their co-workers in pursuing workplace grievances.

Join YCOWA in our vision: a world where every individual, regardless of their background, enjoys fundamental rights and dignity. Together, we empower and seek justice.”
